Pear shape separatory funnel (or separatory funnel, pear-shaped separatory funnel) is a piece of laboratory glassware used in liquid-liquid extractions to separate the components of a mixture into two immiscible solvent phases of different densities. The more dense liquid can be drained out through a valve away from the less dense liquid, which remains in the separatory funnel, the stopcock could be made from glass (cheap, for acid solvents) or Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE, for both acid and alkaline solvents).
